Happy Birthday Grandma….

Yesterday, was my grandma’s birthday…if she was still on Earth she would of been 96. We lost her when I was 21 and a year and half later I gave birth to L. I often daydream of the mothering advice she would of given me or how much she would of loved to of held my babies. In between her passing and the arrival of L, we lost a baby… I often dream my grandmother went ahead to make a special place for my baby – because she knew that it would put my heart at ease knowing she was there to love and care for her. We lost another a couple years back and I know she just opened her arm and loved on her as well – just as I would want to do myself.

So once again days have passed me and a big chunk is missing….oh well…i figured an easier way to do this so hopefully it works. I think the kids would like to come back and see all this one day. No more stinky faces about falling behind…

It has been a long time since I have come here – the plans I talked about never happen. Summer went to fast, I had planned on blogging about parks we visited and a perspective of a mom and a seven year old – and if the four year old had an opinion, his too!

But summer went to fast and here we are!

So big news – we are EXPECTING! We don’t know how the nursery will look yet…but I am hoping some pink is involved. We are into our 15th week now.

Logan is loving second grade!

I am teaching 3 year olds.

Evan started VPK.

And John – he is well working!

We continue to be Youth Workers at our church and we love ~~every moment~~ (ok, so I am lying not every moment but….) doing what we do.

So that’s our check in!!

A Love Affair…

I was looking at my drafts and this was there…I don’t know why it wasn’t posted! But here it is…

When I had Logan, I physically felt this thing we call LOVE out grow my body. I could feel it seep from my pores and over flow the room. I couldn’t imagine that it was possible to love anyone or thing as much as I felt it that moment of looking at him. Over the couple of days of his new life nothing changed, I loved him and it continued to grow. I was jealous, I was jealous that Logan tended to be more of a daddy’s boy than a momma’s boy. I wanted him to love me as much as I loved him (I now know that he loves me and maybe more than I could love him, MAYBE). But someone seem to have more of his heart, his DADDY! Of course this totally was not obvious until I quit breastfeeding, but Logan looked forward to daddy coming home and being his right hand guy. If daddy was home, many times I felt like I wasn’t even there, I was a shadow in my house. I know now neither one of them knew I felt this way and if they did they would of done something different. I blame my own insecurities from my baby blues I had developed with him.

However, when I had Evan, I exceeded my expectation of love. I often wondered as I was pregnant if I would favor one over the other (I prayed it didn’t happen, I have seen it happen and I have seen the pain it causes), I wondered how I was going to love as much as I did, to both, I wondered if I would of got that rush the moment I saw him(Logan). Truly, when I saw Logan, I was a believer of love at first sight.

I saw him (Evan) and I fell in love, I once again felt LOVE seep out my pores and over filled the room. I held him and didn’t want to let him go, just like Logan. I realized that I was capable of this thing of loving beyond understanding.

The difference is Evan is a momma’s boy. He cuddles with me and loves on me. John and I joke that he knows how I felt with him and Logan but really I know how that can hurt. So I make it a point that Evan shares his loving between us.

I understand it all now, Logan loves both his mom and dad. He loves us so much, I understand that he sees me as mom, as someone he could do anything with, as someone that keeps him in line and he sees John as his dad, his best friend and really as the guy that he hopes to grow up and be like. Evan also loves both mommy and daddy, I am looked at as mom, as his first love, as his best friend and John is seen as dad, his playmate.

I don’t go thirty minutes without hearing from Evan that he loves me or how much he loves me.

I love both my boys SO much and am SO thankful that I have been blessed to watch them grow into the loving men that they will be one day!
